What was there

Google Earth
Google Earth is pretty cool because it can show you any place on earth and if you are lucky you might also be able to see street photos. The down side is the fact that its scale is very hard to use. A cool aspect about Google-Earth is the fact that it can show you how to get to places, e.g. from your house to the nearest tube station. This might be nice but i think Google Maps shows the directions more clearly. The flight simulator on it is quite fun to play with because you see what the actual landscape looks like while having fun flying the plane. Although the downside to the flight simulator is that the houses and flat landscapes, appear flat on your screen. Mountains are the only things that are in 3-D. There are so many different things that you can do with Google Earth one of the things that you can do is you can put in a postcode or a place and it will find it for you. There are no built in templates but the way the program is structured really makes up for the templates. One of the most useful tool is the finder and the finder lets you find something or somewhere much more easily. This tool really does what it is intended to do which is to give you a search engine which specializes in finding things or places. One of the things that I like about it is the way that some of the most important buildings in google earth is in 3-D and you can change the angle of the way you see the map.

Google earth also has a cool feature called flight simulator where you can fly a plane around the world, once I even landed in my own backyard. Also, the detail the world itself has is really cool. One of my favorite things is that it even shows elevation, for example if you were flying around Mt. Everest then it would actually look like you are flying around the tallest mountain in the world.
Conflict History
Conflict history looks like google earth and is probably partly based on it, though it only shows battlefields. You can find almost any conflict in the world. In class you could use it if you need to find the site of a battle. A down side is that it takes a long time to find a battle because first you have to find the year and then then scroll down a list until you find it. You also might as well use google earth because it doesn't give you much information about the place.
360 Cities
360 Cities is very similar to Google Earth in that you can see anywhere on earth, and has the option to see terrain, map style, hybrid, and sattelite. This is handy if you want to quickly locate an area, either for personal knowledge or for class benefit. It also has a search box in the top right hand corner that allows you to search postcodes, countries, cities, towns, continents, and pretty much anything you want. The best thing about 360 cities is that it allows you to see a 360 degree view of a city. However, a downside is that if you move the map to a different area it takes a while to load, and you can not zoom in very close. This program could be used in Humanities to locate an area that you are learning about, to get a better feel for it.

Healthmap
Health Map is one of the coolest map websites i have seen in a while. This is because it shows where there are outbreaks of a certain disease. This gives it 3 possible applications. One of these is that it can be fun to just look and study the world and just to find out interesting information. Another one is that it can help you on a school project because it can give you modern information on a disease. The final way is that it can help you is if you are planning a trip then if you are worried about diseases go you can check the website to stay safe.
National Geographic Maps
There are many different things that you can do with this application. like you can find out where places are and you can learn about countries that you might not have known. There are no built in templates. One useful tool in this application in this tool is the way that they structured the way to find the places like it is in continents and you can zoom in of places. This software does what it is intended to do because it just shows where places are on a map.I like how it is shown in continents so that it is easier for you to find places. This tool is really useful in class because if you need to find a place than you can just quickly look it up.

National Geographic Maps is a useful tool because you can do a lot of different things with it. You look at a map of the world and you can zoom in and out. You can find countries that you have never heard about. This map is really useful in class because if you need to find a place than you can just quickly look it up. The only problem is you can only look at part of the world at a time. this makes it hard. It also takes a while for it to go into focus since there is a lot of colors and information to process.
